Reporting Your Outboard Lost or Stolen

Modified on Fri, 7 Feb at 8:49 AM

If your BLADE Outboard is lost or stolen, we take immediate action to help prevent unauthorized use and assist in recovery efforts. By reporting the theft, we can deactivate connectivity, block firmware updates, and track any available GPS data from the mobile app (if enabled).

1. How to Report a Stolen or Lost Outboard

To report your BLADE Outboard as lost or stolen, follow these steps:

1️⃣ File a Police Report

  • Report the theft to your local law enforcement agency and obtain an official police report number.
  • This is required to proceed with the report.

2️⃣ Gather Required Information

  • Outboard serial number (found on your invoice, warranty registration, or the unit itself).
  • Proof of purchase (receipt or invoice).
  • Date & location of theft.
  • Police report number & agency contact information.

3️⃣ Submit a Theft Report to BLADE Outboards

2. What Happens After You Report Your Outboard?

✔️ Remote Connectivity Deactivation

  • We will block communication between the outboard and our servers, disabling firmware updates and software-based functionality.

✔️ GPS Tracking (If Available)

  • If the outboard has been paired with the BLADE mobile app, any future GPS data received from the app will be monitored and flagged.
  • Note: GPS tracking depends on active app connections and may not always be available.

✔️ Stolen Status Update

  • The serial number will be flagged in our system as reported stolen, preventing unauthorized warranty claims or service.

✔️ Cooperation with Law Enforcement

  • We will provide all reasonable assistance to authorities as allowed by our Privacy Policy and applicable laws.

3. Recovering a Stolen Outboard

If your outboard is recovered, you must:

  • Provide proof of ownership (original invoice and ID that matches purchase records).
  • Obtain clearance from law enforcement confirming the recovery.
  • Reach out to security@bladeoutboards.com for reactivation.
