Replacing HALO 6HP Sacraficial Anode

Modified on Fri, 7 Feb at 8:51 AM

The sacrificial anode protects your outboard’s components from corrosion by attracting electrochemical reactions away from critical metal parts. Regular inspection and replacement are essential for maintaining performance and longevity.

Tools & Materials Needed

✔️ Replacement sacrificial anode kit (Ensure correct part number for your model)
✔️ Screwdriver or Allen wrench (Depending on screw type)
✔️ Lock washer
✔️ Low-strength Loctite (optional)

Step-by-Step Replacement Guide

1. Orient the Anode

  • Refer to your diagram for proper placement.
  • Align and center the anode on the shaft.

2. Insert Lock Washer

  • Place the lock washer inside the anode to secure it properly.

3. Secure with Screw

  • Insert the screw through the anode into the shaft.
  • Hand-tighten the screw until snug.

⚠️ Do Not Over-Torque!

  • Over-tightening can damage threads or crack the anode.
  • If using Loctite, apply only low-strength thread locker to prevent seizing.

When to Replace the Anode

✔️ Check the anode every 3–6 months, or sooner if operating in saltwater.
✔️ Replace when 50% or more of the anode is worn away.

By maintaining your sacrificial anode, you ensure longer life for your outboard’s key components. ??
